Tough Aussie businesswoman now world’s richest gal

Score one for Australia: Natural resources mogul Gina Rinehart is now the richest woman in the world. BRW magazine’s “Rich 200” list recalculated her wealth after she pulled off two iron ore and coal deals that nearly tripled her wealth to a mind-boggling $29 billion, adding some $19 billion to her gilded coffers in less than a year. Thinking of challenging her earning power? You’ll have to earn more than $2 million an hour. Her fortune hasn’t come without heartache: Rinehart’s locked in legal battles with three of her four children, telling a court they’re “manifestly unsuitable” and lack the work ethic for managing the family trust.
