Born in Long Island, NY, introduced to reggae by friends, bought all the classic, foundation records in Greenwich Village in the 80’s & 90’s.  Fell in love with the drum-n-bass vibes, moved to Delray Beach, FL .  Took up surfing, began teaching, and, oh yes; became an underground sensation in the local reggae scene!  That is the short version of a very long road traveled by Adam “Teacha” Barnes.

“Teacha” has definitely “paid his dues”.  Frequently taking the stage at various local venues in S. FL where more established reggae bands like Rythmation (Bradley Brown’s band) were playing at venues such as Boston’s in Delray and Waterway Cafe in Palm Beach Gardens, “Teacha” has developed a signature style.  A style that pays homage to the likes of Gregory Issacs, Super Cat, Dennis Brown  and many more.  A style that mixed with his own incredibly solid, clear and rich tone has left audiences questioning whether what they had just heard was real or the product of some great engineer tucked away in the shadows of the venue.  Make no mistake, Teacha has worked with great engineers however, they themselves have marveled at the the gift that this man possesses!

A few years ago, “Teacha” met up with  the incredibly talented producer Dennis Dreadstone and was afforded the  the opportunity to voice on an original  track built by a another super talented individual; Tuviel Levi.  The story goes that Levi had named the track the “Difference Riddim” and passed it on  to Dreadstone.  Dreadstone in turn, gave it to “Teacha” to write the lyrics for it.  When “Teacha” received the track the only thing written on the CD  was “track 1”.  “Teacha, for whatever reason, took the CD, dropped it into his car player and drove to a parking lot in front of a Barnes & Noble bookstore.  There he sat and within an hour had completed a song entitled….wait for it……DIFFERENT!

This introspective, passionate single is the entryway into a part of this artist that very few have been allowed.  It is also the lead single for his album expected to drop just before the Christmas holidays.  It gives listeners a view from the inside of a mind.  It tells of how changes in ones personal life allows you to look at everyday, mundane activities from a new perspective.  It also speaks to the importance of music in his life.

Now avalable in CDBaby, Spotify and ITunes, Difference is truly Different!
