RICH Davis, long-serving host of the popular Sounds of the Carib-bean radio show on WLRN in South Florida, has died.

According to the Miami Herald, WLRN programme director Peter J Maerz said Davis was found motionless by his girlfriend Mexine Bisasor last Wednesday in a bathroom in Jamaica.

The report did not state where his body was discovered but said paramedics failed to revive him.

Davis was 41 years old.

“It’s a major blow. His programme was a signature programme on WLRN,” Maerz said. “We’re going to have to consider very thoughtfully how we move forward with our overnight programming.”

St Elizabeth-born Davis had hosted the late-night Sounds of the Caribbean since 2007. It was Miami’s longest-running Caribbean show on 91.3 FM.

He was also host of BBC World News on WLRN.

Davis started his career in 1991 as a volunteer on Radio Waves (now HOT 102 FM). He is survived by Bisasor and their son.
