JCDC Executive Director Delroy Gordon Dies Suddenly
The executive director of the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) Delroy Gordon has died.
Gordon died suddenly this morning.
It is reported that he had earlier complained about a headache.
Gordon was appointed JCDC executive director in 2013.
He joined the commission in 1987 as the cultural organiser for the parish of St Mary.
Within two years of his employment, he was promoted to parish manager and later, regional manager and director of field services.
Under his leadership in 2009, the Commission received the Gleaner Honour Award for Excellence in Arts & Culture.
He was recognised at King’s House as one of the eight nominees for the Jamaica Institute of Management, Manager of the Year Award for 2011.
A Justice of the Peace for the parish of St Mary, Gordon served on numerous parish and national committees and boards.
The Culture Minister Olivia Grange is expected to release a statement shortly on Gordon’s passing.
