Icy escape: Germany’s igloo village

Constructing the lodges

An igloo experience that’s poles apart

Get a taste of the Inuit lifestyle at a Bavarian igloo village high in the Alps.

In search of a winter wonderland experience that’s poles apart from your standard vacation? You can now visit a newly constructed igloo village in Germany’s Bavarian Alps. The village of 11 igloo lodges sits on top of the Nebelhorn mountain near Oberstdorf, and has its own bar, dining area and even an outside heated whirlpool. One night costs $155 per person, including breakfast and cheese fondue, and the village is open until April.
