Bob Hoskins Dead: ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’ Actor Dies At 71

English actor Bob Hoskins, who is best known for his roles in “Who Framed Roger Rabbit’ and “Hook,” died following a battle with pneumonia, his rep tells BBC News. He was 71.

“Bob died peacefully at hospital last night surrounded by family, following a bout of pneumonia,” his agent said in a statement. “We ask that you respect our privacy during this time and thank you for your messages of love and support.”

Hoskins retired in 2012 after he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in the fall of 2011. He has been one of Britain’s most beloved actors, starring in films including “The Long Good Friday,” “Brazil,” “Mermaids” and “Super Mario Bros.” He was nominated for an Academy Award for his performance in “Mona Lisa,” for which he won the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role and the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama in 1986.

His last film was 2012’s “Snow White and the Huntsman,” in which he played Muir.

Hoskins is survived by his children, Alex and Sarah with his first wife Jane Livesey and Rosa and Jack with his current wife Linda Banwell.

“We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Bob,” his family said in a statement.
