DUB poet Yasus Afari’s latest album Public Secret is out in the  open. It was released on Saturday at Redbones Blues Café in St Andrew.

Backed by his Dub Vijan band, Afari performed a mix of old songs  as well as tracks from Public Secret.

“Public Secret is different from all my   other albums as it is  the first time I  am able to do an album with my own band, Dub Vijan,” Afari  told the Jamaica Observer after his set.

The autobiographical Poetree Caan  Nyam, Let’s Talk New York,  Isus, Ring Pon Comedy and Woman to Love were some of the songs he performed from  Public Secret.

In the opening segment, Afari did Mama Africa, Essence, Hard and  Tuff, and I Can See Clearly Now (a tribute to his friend, the late singer Garnet  Silk), which were also well received by the modest gathering.

The St Elizabeth-born artiste believes he shows maturity on Public  Secret which was released digitally in July by American company Fox Fuse.

“It is not in your face but subtle and   sublime, yet very potent.  The fact  that the title suggests more than just   the content, makes it most    intriguing, and people are highly excited and keen to get a piece of the Public  Secret. So the demand and  interest is growing,” he explained.

Guest appearances were made by fellow dub poet Steppa and singer  Bryan Art.
